Understanding eGPU, The purpose of having one?

After a month of reading and finding out what eGPU’s are.

In this article, I lay out the guides on eGPUs Pro’s and Con’s why making your first eGPU purchase could be for you!  What you can use benefit your work.

The biggest thing to owning an eGPU, A greater deal now If you’re a laptop user.

This cuts off the addition of having to build a desktop for beginners or anyone not having to put the time into building a desktop.  eGPU has been around for some time.  The purpose of having an eGPU, to you can push further graphical boundaries that your laptop’s onboard graphics card couldn’t.

eGPU is supported on all operating systems.  eGPUs are more commonly used on macOS, you must have macOS High Sierra 10.13.4 or higher and most run on Intel-based Macbooks providing many benefits for video and photo editors, and open up many possible opportunities for mac gamers.

Workstations

If you are into graphics development, video-editing, or whatever creative field you are in.  This will benefit macOS users with High Sierra 10.13.4 or above.  Rendering videos photos, or graphics animations.  This will work for the needs of your specific work.

 

Gaming

Many gamers are laptop users too. Laptop users, of all many demographics, would love to play their favorite titles.  when it comes to the on-board graphics may not be enough to play first-person shooters like for example Fortnite or Call Of Duty eGPUs does not overwork your laptop’s internal graphics or, CPU processor.  rendering the graphics on games easily when plugging your laptop through a thunderbolt port connection.

eGPU for Windows-Based Laptops?

This option works for all Windows OSs and widely support without issue.

Sadly, Apple has not added eGPU support for their new M1 chips.  There are no new states coming from Apple when it’ll be likely for them to come up with eGPU support.

On the bright side!   If you are using an Apple Intel chipset.  You’re in luck!

Right now you can find MacBook |ntel chipsets still in support that you can still purchase over at places like Mac of All Trades MacBooks dated between 2012-2019. The cost for a refurbished Macbooks is between $269-799, depending on the model i5-i7 works great for you all your graphical production design and leisurely needs. The M1 chipsets at this point are safe to say, Apple has killed off support for the eGPU market.

Intel Chipset will still remain in support by Apple,  Who knows when that’ll last.

Can eGPU can be used for Desktops

Yes!  you can still use an eGPU for desktops, it is just not recommended, since many desktops come with a PCI-e 4.0 slot and come with zero latency.  The eGPU was made for laptop users in mind. Remember that!  Both Windows & macOS intel-based computers with 10.13.4 macOS upgrade or higher.
